Let’s make a vivid underwater scene using a reverse print technique with pastels today! This 3-step process takes some time to complete, but you’ll be so happy with your artwork when you’re finished. I like using a rainbow of color here like my artist inspiration Karla Gerard, and think the results are spectacular, but you can choose whatever color palette appeals to you. Try it as many different ways as you like, this lesson is one you’ll want to share with everyone you know!

Below is a picture of my colorful fish as well as my completed print. You can also find these at the Supplemental Materials page.

The materials needed for this class are:

  • a pencil
  • a ball point pen
  • oil pastels
  • a small stack of white paper
  • masking tape or artist’s tape

As always, you can also have:

  • an eraser
  • a pencil sharpener
  • a file folder or paperclip for organization

Practice, practice, practice!
